“I am the Lord, I change not.”

“I am the Lord, I change not.” Malachi 3:6

Wars and rumours of wars, tariffs or no tariffs, leadership changes and elections looming, we live in an everchanging world and who knows what each day will bring. It’s good to know that there is one thing that will remain constant day to day, “I am the Lord, I change not.”

You can’t improve on perfection, so how can He change? There is absolutely no flaw in Him. I find it a great comfort that in this ever-changing world, and in our ever-changing lives, there is One who never changes.

The Bible says that even the heavens and earth must soon pass away; they shall perish, they shall wax old as a garment. But Paul tells Timothy that God alone has immortality, His years have no end, His character never changes, always loving, always kind, always merciful and forgiving, a solid rock on which we stand. And the amazing thing is, He gives to us mortals His life and Immortality, through the gospel! 2 Timothy 1:10

With all the changes of this troublesome time, our feeble hands of faith can find a firm grip on this truth–“I am the Lord, I change not.” With God there “is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” Whatever he was for Abraham or Moses or David or Daniel, He is for us today. His power, his wisdom, his justice, his truth, are still the same. He has ever been and ever will be our refuge, our anchor in the storm, our peace in the day of trouble, our help for any need.

He loves us with an everlasting love. Human love waxes and wanes, His love for us is as fresh and new and immeasurable and strong and steadfast as it ever has, and always will be. It shall forevermore endure the saints’ and angels’ song. Oh folks, precious indeed is the assurance that he changes not! Whatever this day brings, rejoice in that today!

Blessings,
Pastor Gord
