“But He knows the way that I take, and when He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold!”
Job 23:10
Jesus never promised to deliver us from the troubles of this fallen world, but that He would always be there with us and walk with us through them.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German pastor who suffered the horrors of Nazi imprisonment. He was executed by the Nazis in a concentration camp, just two weeks before it was liberated by US soldiers. Bonhoeffer once said, “Those who let Jesus’ yoke rest on them without resistance, will find the burden they must bear to be light. In the gentle pressure of this yoke they will receive the strength to walk the right path without becoming weary”.
In Job 23, Job is trying to understand the ways of God in the midst of all his troubles. He is wondering, “where is God in all of this”? “Oh, if I only knew where I might find Him, I go forward, but He is not there, backward, but I do not perceive Him; on the left hand I do not behold Him; on the right hand I do not see Him.”
But then He realizes, though he cannot see God, God knows exactly where He is; and though He can’t figure out what God is up to, God knows exactly what He is doing! So, Job continues in the very next verse, “But He knows the way that I take, and when He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold!”
Ah folks! We may not know all that God is doing in these days, but we can be assured it is for our good! Let the gentle pressure of His yoke guide you without resistance, and receive the strength to walk with Him, wherever He leads you today! He knows the way and He knows just how much heat it takes to bring out the gold in you!
Blessings everyone,
Pastor Gord
